Hi All,

I got my 7 in March of this year - it had 1.01 on it. Worked just fine but there were some features and fixes that I just had to have so I downloaded 2.01 a few weeks ago. I also downloaded the instructions, etc.

I ordered and just got the PC to 7 cable last night from Sweatwater.

Start it up.....using the directions....can't find a comm port that works. All but Comm2 give you the error message. Comm2 says something but it's so quick I can't read it. So - I'll use Comm2.
I can't even get the SW version via the facility.

I even disable all the stuff on my work PC that even looks at Comm ports - Palm Sync, etc.

So I start the upgrade process. About 30 hour into it I notice only 2 bars on the "status bar" are done. Hmmmmmmm.....is this a 5 hour update? So I hit cancel. Guess that was a bad idea. Nothing on the 7 worked. Blue Screen! Turn off, do the 2 AND 3 finger salutes - they don't work either.

Looked at the notes again. Blue screen - try doing the same thing again and again until something sync's....but don't expect any lights to flicker or turn on. Tried it again....no lights or anything

Well - after much frustration and consternation and after I turned the 7 off for 1/2 hour or so - it finally started working....no lights on the 7 'cept the blue screen - but the status bar on the PC was updating.

Moral of the story - sorry I don't have one. All I can say is this type of firmware update process reminds me of peripheral devices designed for DOS 1.1 PC's. Not very slick or intuitive nor designed for ease of troubleshooting.

So - my 7 is now on 2.01 and it even kept most of my settings. I didn't have to many scenes saved so that's no big deal.

Well - just wanted to let you know. Next time it will go much smoother...hopefully.

Now - upgrade my MX-2424 to the latest. That thing is a piece of cake to upgrade. You upgrade a flash memory card in the machine, then reboot, then store the flash memory card in a sleeve for future reference.

Anecdotally - after my labotomy I've failed at several attempts to upgrade to Brain 1.01.....but it doesn't seem to have affected me affected me affected me to much or to much

Later......

ricache,
Is this story related to that "hang-nail" story?

I've done my share of upgrades too. The DA7 is a little cumbersome but its NOTHING compared to what the other digital console manufactures are putting their users through.

Perhaps after upgrading the DA7 you should take a "mini" vacation, and get a manicure while you're at it...

Glad to here you're back, I think you'll find V2.01 has some nice touches.

Grammar...

Thanks for your support, you too! and you too! and you and ....is there an echo in here?

I took my evil twin to the Air Supply concert last weekend ( it was packed - SRO!) and left him there - so it's just me now. He probably caught on as a roadie and is loving every minute!

I believe you, Maric, on what other board manufacturers put their users thru.....

Poking fun at yourself and making it seem like you don't think you know very much can position you, the pokee and poker, to take certain advantages. But that ain't my story.... I'm the real deal.

But really - I enjoy this forum and all the personalities (a silent moment now for my departed evil twin......) and will always be learning from you guys.
