I am having difficulty getting ahold of the cable to upgrade my DA7 via my Windows computer. Sam Ash has been giving me the run-around. Anybody know of a quick resource for the cable?

I don't know if you have one near you, but I picked one up at Guitar Center.

I successfully used the same cable I already had for connecting my Kodak DC200 Digital Camera to the COMM port of my PC. This cable is under $20 and you can do a search from many online sources at http://www.shopper.com Just use the search words Digital Camera Cable or DC200 or DC300 cable, Olympus makes the same sort of camera I think. One other thing to bear in mind is that if you're using your COMM1 port for a modem and want to use COMM2 for the DA7, make sure it is turned on in the BIOS settings. In my case, I just wanted to quickly upgrade the software, so I unpluged my modem and used COMM1 temporarily. Hope this helps

Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up getting the standard Hosa cable with the two required connections at Sam Ash. Apparently, you don't need the specially wired cable as originally suggested. I will still use my sysex features in Cakewalk to backup and restore data though since it is much faster.

You can make one extremely easily by getting a standard Mac printer cable from your local computer center and 2 simple 9-pin parts from Radio Shack. Cut the end off the Mac printer cable and solder the 9-pin connector to it. Check the thread labelled "pinout for mini DIN" on this message board for further info.
