Wow, I'm very surprised...shocked I might say, that I'm the first to post on this topic...In any case, here's to the big man! I was lucky enough to catch The Clarence Clemons Band in a little bar on a wednesday night in Palm Beach about 10 years ago (they shut down Clematis Street to vehicular traffic in downtown PB every wednesday night and have a big party). I was just walking down the block after dinner and there was a "sandwich sign" on the sidewalk announcing the band...I paid my $5.00 cover and was treated to quite a show... It wasn't a Bruce Springsteen show (oh, really?)but the band really cooked and Clarence was, well...CLARENCE! The guy was just gigantic and he played his ass off in his very recognizable style...All good things do come to an end... frown

The big man lived a long life. 5 wives. He was 69.

Rest in Peace.

Clarence RIP.

In his younger days he did party (my friend has fond memories at his apt in Sea Bright).

I'll never forget the time I met him at Federici's (good pizza), we all sat down and just talked about sax's, gigs and pizza.
