Both are of high quality, both sound very different. George's is very transparent, while the Neve is very, um, Neve-ish. Call a pro dealer, ask to demo both units, pick the one you like and buy it.

What Glenn said. The GML is nice and clinical - but in a good way. I use his mic pre's on every session. The Neve is sorta crunchy with a nice mid bass thing happening. Definitely Neve-y. 80 series pre's are used on every session as well.

I recently mixed a solo piano and vocal piece and ran the mixes through both units. Both had a certain something that I liked and both exhibited things I didn't like. I ended up choosing a Requisite Audio unit that sounded great for this specific project.

Key,
You were complaining about the price of the SSL/API stuff, GML is a lot more the last time I checked. Heck, why don't you just go out and get a stereo Fairchild? \:D

Yeah, Sam. The 8304 is kinda my go-to pre for vocals. Tethered to a 50's Neumann M49, a Sony C800G, Stephen Paul modified U87 or a newer C12, it just never sucks! If I want more flava', I'll hit either the Summit TPA200, Chandler LTD1 or I'll pass it through the Neve - all depending on the vocalist and what we're after. Of course, all through TARA Labs.

Hell Yeah! \:D

Oh, I forgot. The piano piece came out great! I'll master at the Mastering Lab next week.
