What do you all think of the O2R96? Looks pretty nice to me! Has anyone heard of any rumors about Panasonics game plan in the mixer market? Just wondering...

Sadly, I've had to purchase the DM2000 instead of 2 DA7's.
With the new studio that I building I needed to get another mixer with a ton of inputs and 2 DA7's would have done the trick at a fifth of the price but I've lost confidence in Panasonic, especially in terms of finding ADAT, TDIF, AES cards and future support here in Canada.
No one has any DA7 stuff up here at all. I couldn't take the chance.
The 02R96 and DM2000 are smoking boards but I'm sure they've only met the quality that the DA7 always had.

Kelly,
I have just started looking at the Dm2000/02R96s. Why sis you chose one over the other? I am elaning toward the 2K for long term issues and not wanting to purchase anything (wishful thinking I know) for a while. The dealer I taled to gave me a comparrison chart to go over, but I felt like it was put together by some one who did know much about it seeing as the info was pretty basic and ot totally accurate. the THink that is swaying me to the 2K is the DAW functions for Pro Tools HD.
I'd love to hear what caused you to make the decision that you did. Thanks

Jeff E

Kelly,

Me too.

I'm thinking of getting the DM2K also for a third system and 24 tracks of 96 (with 2 MX 2424's), so I'd love to hear from you, as always.

Who does know about the O2R/96?

H.

The DM2000 gave me 96 inputs and buying 2 02R96's would've cost another 3 grand. Plus size was a concern. ( I know, I know, size isn't supposed to matter)

Kelly,
I thought the DM2000 was about 17K and the O2R96 was about 8K... What did you end up paying for the DM2000(if you dont mind)? A quick little review of your general impressions regarding layout and especially sound quality would be very much appreciated!
I'm seeing the end of the Da-7s rein in my studio in about 8 months to a year and like to plan out and research these large changes well in advance.

In Canadian Dough the DM2K is 27 Large with meterbridge, 3 ADAT cards, an AES card and a TDIF card.
The 02R96 is 13 Grand without meterbridge and assorted cards.
I got a great package deal with the DM2K so that helped decide between the 2.
I'm going to Yamaha Canada to have a demonstration of the console in the next week or 2 so I'll be better informed about how it sounds.
From what I hear, the converters and preamps are vitually the same between the 2 boards.
I've been mixing on a couple of 02R's over the last few years and while it doesn't hit you in the gut like our DA7's, it still sounds good. I would suspect the DM2K sounds awesome.

The only comment i've heard is it's a very "busy" board.

Kelly, you could have ordered the cards from Sweetwater here in the U.S. but I guess you decieded not to go that route.
