HEY FLAMERS!
:p
I saw a new Telefunken tube (12AX7 with a C 47 cap) mic, almost like a M49 with its selectable polar pattern on the PSU (9 patterns). Wounder if they have an AC701 version, heck, I could do that mod.
But man, for that money you have a real mic.

Thanks for the link DP.

I noticed that they are now making a 'cheap' 251 at 5K, without stuff that the original package had.

Jeff,

It has got to sound good, the Neuman diaphram alone should do the trick, I mean it has 40% more volume than the 6072/12AU7 of the 251, C12 and C 28s, so the SN 'should' be better. I see it as a C 12 with a Neumann cap. I am just as interested in the 251 F, it has the polar pattern on the mic, not like those chick mics with the selecter on the PSU which gives a little less low end (which is why they call them chick mics).

But $1,300. for a mic like that is great.

Hey Jeff, if you're in the market for a tube mic, don't buy anything 'til you put it next to a Rode K2. I know, it doesn't say "Telefunken" on it but it sounds awesome! You may be pleasantly surprised (and have a few bucks left over too!).

DP,
now why do you have go and complicate matters??? I have been going back and forth between the Rode and the AT 4060. I just bought a tube compressor and next is a tube Mic. This was just just making it easy to jump off the cliff. All kidding aside.. I am going to try to get all three here after April and at least hear them all in the same room. I also wanted to throw in the SE 5600 into the mix. Should be interesting. Once again.. Right time, right place and right price. For the first time in a long time I have about $1500 cash sitting here and nothing I really want to buy. If Im not careful Ill buy a motorcyle and go ride instead.

Peace...

Jeff
