Hey guys! i am currently running my DA7 with 3 Tascam Da38's using 3 tdif cards, i also have my analog outputs on the Da38's wired to a patchbay. My question is how do i hook up my current system with a Digi 001, along with a Motu 2408 so that i can record from my Da 38's to the digi 001 or vise virsa without any major unplugging. Can anyone who is using a similar configuration let me know! Also was it necessary getting the 2408? your advice would be greatly appreciated. If possible can anyone say exactly what cables i will need to do this hookup smoothly. Thanx.

You cannot use both the digi001 and the motu2408 at the same time. For one thing, they're incompatible. They both do essentially the same thing, which is bringing music in and out of the computer. Each one has it's own proprietary software. In the case of the Digi001, of course,it's ProTools LE. The Motu uses Digital Performer, for Mac's only. On a PC, you can use any software you like. In this respect, the 2408 is more versatile. A big plus in favor of the 2408, is that it has many more I/O choices. You can plug all 3 DA38's into the 2408's 3 TDIF interfaces, and use the 3 ADAT I/O to hook up to your DA7. The digi001 isn't going to be that kind. It has no TDIF interfaces, and only 8 channels of ADAT litepipe. Hope this explains why you can't use both systems together.
