I just picked up some new plugins, (new for me, they are probably at least a couple months old I'm guessing.)

Blue Tubes Bundle from nomad factory. Here's what they say:

The Blue Tubes Bundle duplicates the sound of warm, vintage-style EQs / Chorus / Phaser / Compressors / Limiters / Oilcan Echo-Delay / NoiseGate and Tubes Driver like you’ve never heard before in software plug-ins. Exceptional for tracking, mixing or mastering, this bundle recreates the warm sound qualities of classic analog hardware. The sound quality of Blue Tubes is nothing short of amazing. Yet all 10 plug-ins provide a simple and functional “vintage-style” interface, as well as low CPU consumption for lightening-fast processing. Designed by musicians for musicians, the Blue Tubes Bundle is an essential tool for your virtual studio.

Just wondering if anyone else has tried these plugs?

Nope. Never heard of these. But since you now own them, you can answer this.

Do they actually live up to the marketing hype? How much are they anyway?

I've tried them. They are cool. I especially like the Oil Can Delay and the Pultec style EQ (PEQ2A) that just has mid-peak--it's great for carving out the honk on guitars. The phaser and chorus/flanger are pretty cool too. Oh and the tube driver plugin is great for creating overdrive and distortion sounds...you can dial in the telephone sound pretty easily with it's low and hi-pass filters. What I like the most about these plugins is that you can crank the output and it starts to get really fat and saturated sounding. It's almost like a built in soft-limiter. Overall I think they are a worthy addition to one's plugin arsenal.

I really, really, didn't like them.
But, I was comparing them to bomb factory
and uad1.

The pack of 10 plugins runs you 399. (I got them free so I didn't really have to worry about losing any money in the deal.)

The effect I like the most is difinatley the Oil Can. I will be using that a lot now. Some of the compressor plugs lack character and leave a lot to be desired. The best plugs in the set are definatley the delays, chorous, phaser, and EQ's.

Overall, not worth 400, (ebay for a UAD-1), but definatley are useable.

One side note, they are very forgiving on your CPU, and require a minimal amount of power for what they give.
