Looks like the lcd screen is going to go soon on my DA7. I nearly always have to turn the console on twice to get the screeen to go to full brightness. Usually the first time it remains very, very dim. Does anyone know if this is an indication of the screen going, or is it casued by another part.

Hey Travis.
I don't know if this is what you're seeing or not.
If a DA-7 has been off for a period of time, then powered back up, as things get up to temp, it'll take five or six contrast tweaks to keep it readable. Then they'll stabilize.
For the most part, mine have been on 24/7 going into the seventh year and the displays are still as bright as they were when installed.

Travis, you do know about the contrast control, right? You have to adjust it every few hours and when you turn it on. All DA7s are that way.

The legend around here is that the nearby power supply heats up the screen, causing it to change; when you first turn the board on, it's set up for when the power supply was hot, so you have to adjust it.

I have the same issue - as does every console with a monochromatic LCD display. The operating temperature of the console affects the display where you are going to need to make adjustments until the temperature of the unit stabilizes. As Brent said, if after say half an hour of use, your LCD is still unreadable after adjusting for contrast, I would take it in for replacement. Otherwise, you are fine.

I'm quite aware of the contrast knob and it's need for constant adjustment ;\)

...this problem is different. i start up and the screen is almost completely dark...despite adjusting contrast or waiting five minutes for it to warm up... It is always fine on a second boot. I'm just wary that this is an indicator that the screen is going to go soon.
