Let me clarify this issue. The software that was distributed on the Full Compass website was provided by Pro Media and approved by Panasonic when we ran out of the PC version of Max. We were the last Pro Audio rep that Panasonic had in the US. The software was never intended for free general distribution, only for Full Compass customers who purchased a DA7 and were unable to purchase the PC version due to that product being sold out. The Mac version is still available from our office for sale. I know that this software is outdated and not being supported, so what people choose to do with it is their choice. I like everyone else had to pay for all my copies of the software from Panasonic.

If you are saying that there are still some boxed PC versions for sale and that you are the last supplier in the world with any stock then why don't you advertise them here as this is likely to be your market. As a mark of respect and because I'm such a nice guy, I won't distribute any more copies until you advise that you have run out. At that point I feel that Panasonic should make the software "Freeware" and availabe to all. How's that ? Lizardpoint

MAX was co-developed with JL Cooper. I don’t think it can be distributed freely without some kind of legal ramifications. I’m not sure. There were some copies for sale on E-Bay at one time. FWIW, most console automation systems like GML, MartinSound, SSL etc. required dedicated computers running UNIX, LINUX or some other OS. So, a PC running WIN-98 isn’t out of the realm (yet)! http://www.jlcooper.com/cgi/index.cgi

As far as I know, there are no quantities of Max for PC available anymore. We only have the Mac version available. Panasonic however still owns the rights to the software and I honestly couldn't tell you who would have the authority make Max a free program. As a sidenote, we still have WR-TDIF cards, a variety of multipair cables and Max for Mac available(all Panasonic branded).

But that's exactly what Fullcompass were doing. There were no comditions of sale at the time I downloaded it. I wonder if Bill Gates would get upset if I sent a few copies of MS-DOS V1 to a few people who had hardware that would only work with it. Lizardpoint

I thought you had 10,000 units in a warehouse somewhere and I was ruining your sales. If there are none left and the product is dead then why is it wrong to distribute it to a few users who have all purchased Panasonic hardware ? Lizardpoint

I paid full pop and it never worked as promised. I am bitter and discontented about Max. I can't believe there is any argument about distributing this POS.
My advice... Don't seek out this poorly implemented software. I find it fascinating that there were no revs. 1.0 is the only version.
Now if someone could rewrite it for OSX/USB... Oh well...

As I stated earlier...the only reason there was a free download was for customers who purchased DA7 hardware from Full Compass. As such, it was never intended to be a "free" program for everyone and was sanctioned by Panasonic at the time only for that purpose. Again, what people want to do is up to them...I was just making it known that the software and serial number that Lizardpoint is sending out to everyone is the copy that we own at Pro Media. Please email us directly for prices of remaining DA7 items at da7@promediamarketing.com
