I just found out that Guitar Center does have access to this software ( WR-RC/W - Thanks to the MAX for Mac question ). It lists for $XXX.00 - I hope they're blowing it as they are the mixer. Anyway I'm trying to get more info - like what the package actually does ( I know it gives more flexibility in mixing , editing , saving, etc..... but I'm looking for specifics like system requirements and the like ) If/when I find out , I'll post again.

I paid $395 for Max. I have just started using it and so far no problems-just a little scary if it's the first x for automation. I use a Pentium III, 450 MZ. Be sure to use at least a 17" monitor. There are quite a few posts on it, however, I think the software never got a chance and no further versions with improvements have been released. I feel that most DA-7 users are storing their mixes via Midi. Nonetheless, I like it and hope to become proficient by the end of my current project.

Hi,

Does that mean MAX won't run on Windows 2000?

Officially MAX is a Win 95/98 program only, although I understand that that some enterprising users from this forum have been at least partially successful on Win XP.

I have been able to get MAX to install on XP by changing the setup executable properties to compatability mode.

To do this go to the Setup.exe file and right click...click properties...go to the tab about compatability...click the checkbox "run this program in compatability mode" and choose Win95 or Win98 from the dropdown combo box...then run the install program.

When I try running the MAX program (after installing) I have the following problems:

1) If I run it in compatability mode I get an "Out of memory" error. I have 1GB of memory in this machine.

2) If I don't run it in compatability mode the program eats all the cpu...about 97%.

If someone has a solution to these issues it would much appreciated (other than running MAX on a seperate machine).

Thanks,
KMan

I had a similar "Out of Memory error"

It was cured by removing a 245M stick of RAM.

The error is actually caused by too much memory.

That isn't gonna help you much if you want to run MAX on the same unit as your DAW software \:\(

A cheap second PC with a KVM switch and a soundcard style MIDI interface will do it.

Hope this helps

DP:

I got my brand-new, latest copy of MAX from Full Compass when I bought my DA7 package. I know we are not supposed to discuss pricing - Will I get away with saying I spent less than 50 clams on it?

(we'll see...)

I would check there if you need to own it NOW.

I have not tried to load or use it yet.

I understand that MAX is wrtitten to run on my WIn 98SE OS. I also have a program called CloneCD that runs flawlessly in Win 98 SE...

Hmmmm, Nope, I didn' look at the date of the original post (I never do - I guess I should start to, though!)

That explains alot. I was a bit puzzled by your query coming at this time. I guess that's becaue it didn't.
