Hey guys,

The plexiglass window that covers the display bridge (the LCD panel) is scratched up on my DA7, and I want to order another one... Problem is, not even Panasonic parts knows what I'm talking about \:\)

Anyone have a service manual handy that you could get a part number from for me?

I would greatly appreciate it!

Btw, this board is a dream come true... I never thought this caliber of equipment would be within my reach.

Thanks Maric!!! \:D

One more question... Once I get the replacement window, I am assuming that it is basically held in by tacky glue material?

If that's the case, I should be able to take a razor blade and gently pry the window off from around the edges, and then I should be able just to place the new one in its place.

Does anyone know if that's the way to do it?

Hey Maric,

Not to doubt your expertise... I had called Panasonic a couple days back asking for a part number, and they said they'd have to call me back. I didn't expect someone would actually get in touch, but they did today, and they gave me this number :

YWA5WA2366B1 - panel

Which one is it that I need?

Hey Garth,

Go a head and doubt my “expertise”, it’s OK.

I don’t work for Panasonic. I just happen to have an old Service Manual which btw, is Part # AVS9805093C1.

It’s very possible that both part numbers are correct with the later being designated for the WR-DA7 (P) MKII in which case the overlay is a beautiful shade of blue with the MKII badge. They're completely inter-changable.

It’s also possible that the part number that Panasonic gave you is the most available or …I could be sitting at home with nothing to do, making up part numbers just to keep guys like you from reaching A/V (audio/video) nirvana!!!

In any event, I hope you find the part you’ll looking for and if you do please pass on the correct part number as well as the price and availability to the group here.

FWIW, I already have a few of those babies stashed away for myself.

Oh yeah, sorry for any confusion.

And good luck,

Good point, maybe that is the blue one that they were referring to.

Ironically, the number that they gave me is on backorder for 6-8 weeks. I'll try to order the number you gave me - either that or I'll try getting some Koala Plastic Polish -

By the way, I have an original DA7, with the serial starting in 98... Should I be worried bout this IC problem?

Louis,

All of the DA7 serial numbers (that I know of) begin with 98'. That's the year they were made.

The 3rd number represents the month built. With XYZ being 10-11-12.

It's consoles with a 98-3 (three) and under that could be suspect for the faulty IC mounting.

In any event the condition can be repaired.

And FWIW, Toothpaste works well on removing scratches in plastic. It did wonders to my Dan Armstrong (plexiglass) bass. Damn, I should have never sold that thing!

Oh well...

Glenn,

I can remember borrowing the money from my Mom (whom, I eventually paid back) to get my fretless-Armstrong.

I think it was $150.00, which at the time (the early 70’s) was a lot of money.

And to be honest, I was never very good on a fretless.

So, unless my Mom can lend me the $650.00, I'll just have to play my P-Bass...

But, thanks to my Mom for lending me the money and to Benny @ Cintioli's Music Center in Phila. for letting me pay it off in monthly installments.

Come to think of it, I'm still making payments on it!!!

OK, I went back and double checked just to be sure and...

Applicable Model Service Numbers : 981XXXX, 982XXXX, 983XXX

Soldering crack occured by accident to IC305 on the Main Board.

Remove the IC socket of IC305 carefully and solder the IC305 directly on the Main Board.

other than that problematic IC socket and a fan that goes noisey every once in a while you got yourself a pretty dependable little mixer there...
