For anybody interested, these guys make all sorts of isolation, line filters, power transformers etc... I used one of thier in line stand alone power transformers in my studio and have been very happy with it. For about $600.00 I got what would have cost about 2 grand had I gone with something like Equitek or the like. Anyway, i get periodic e-mails from them, so I thought I'd pass it on... Happy Holidays

Which product did you get? And what improvements has it made in the quality of audio in your studio?

"Stand alone" meaning just the xfrmr without a case of filter circuitry?

I didn't see anything about these providing balanced power.......Do they?

This Tripp Lite is a good deal too. No battery back up or balanced power , but it is regulated.

Then there's the surplus route:

Hey Guys,
I only posted the link to the stand alone Isolation transformers, but if you look through their site, they have anything and everything concerning power for industrial and scientific purposes. I got a Iso transformer - 120v in / 120 out @ 20 amps with scientific grade surge/spike suppression. My electrician wired it into the circuit that powers all my control rm equipment. I'm not sure if it's "balanced" or not, but I can assure you that it is extremely clean and stable. They'll also do custom stuff, so if you have a question or specific application they'll help you through it.

I have a flier somewhere around the studio from a company that sells balanced power units for $500. I think that was for a 1600W unit.

I will post the info once I find it.

DP,

If you get 120 from the positive side of the transformer it is not ballanced, ballasnced gives 60 a side. Ballanced is great if you don't have old double rectifier tube gear, the transformers don't like voltage going down the ground, YIKES!

Other than that any iso transformer is the bees knees.
