I tried both +/- keys. Strange.

My monitors are AG Neovo X-174s - which are really good, by the way.

Nick, you're sure you went to

System Preferences > Universal Access

then clicked on "Turn on Zoom"

The magic keystrokes are (all three keys at once)

Command - Option - Plus
Command - Option - Minus

Go to the options menu under that header, there is an adjustment for minimum and maximum zoom - yours is probably set to min (which is 0) - mine was.

Try this:

1. quit system preferences
2. trash the Universal Access preferences:

/Library/Preferences/com.apple.universalaccess.plist

3. empty trash
4. Now go back into system preferences and re-enable zoom.

Nope, trashing prefs didn't do it either.
