Guys,

I've been tracking down a problem in my system for two weeks now. It was a problem with phasing, then it turned into crosstalk between tracks on the DA7, then it turned into audio drastically slowing down; actually now it's all of these symptoms together. I originally thought the problem was with my MOTU system. First I replaced the Audio Wire, which seemed to help at first. Then I got a replacement 324 card. Then I tried swapping out the 2408.
I thought I had tried everything else related, trading ADAT cables, trading DA7 ADAT cards, and also making my 2408 my wordclock master, but I guess I really didn't. It was right in the middle of a session when I started getting the crosstalk problem. I was pretty flustered at the time, so I must have done something wrong in trying to set up the 2408 as master.

I have always used the DA7 as my wordclock master. After playng with my system for a couple of hours last night, I found the problems disappear when the DA7 is only using two cards. If you plug in ADAT cables into card 3, BOOM! all hell breaks loose again. It was also fine if you just used 1 and 3, or 2 and 3 as well. The worclock just can't handle generating wordclock anymore if it's pushed beyond two banks of audio. It's definitely the DA7.

Fortunately, everything works again when my system is running with the 2408 as the master.
Has anyone else had wordclock failure with their DA7?
Friends at Panasonic; I'd love it if you'd chime in on this one.

Will,

You might have a bad WR-ADAT card.

I had one last week that would not work at 44.1kHz for some reason.

It worked fine at 48kHz.

I replaced it and all worked well again.

But the problem isn't happening on any individual card; it only happens when you use all three cards.

Maric,

Maybe I can email you privately...seemed to have lost that address. Can you email me?

PS. the other reason I donn't think it's an ADAT card is that clocking from the 2408 clears up the problem altoghether.

This maybe a long shot but your problem sounds like one I had useing AES cards. A tech guy I hired thought it could be a power supply problem.

I had a problem with slaving the delta 1010 to the DA7 via wordclock. When I selected 44.1 as the master source on the DA7 I would get redlined noise on all 8 ADAT channels. It would disappear when I selected 48Khz. It still wouldn't lock 100% though, I got clicks/noise during high frequecny recording.
