I have heard that ADAT lite-pipe is limited to 20 bits. What about TDIF? In a system comprising of a Ramsa DA7, Motu 2048 and Cubase VST, all of which handle 24 bit signals, what would be the optimum way to transfer data between the 3 platforms.

Any info gratefully received!

Thanks

Adrian

Adats are 20-bit.. Adat light pipes pass 24-bit. Hope this helps.

TDIF will handle 24 bits, but remember you've got to enable dither inside the Tascam deck.

Note that the DA38 forgets the dither setting when you power off. This is a bad situation because it'll simply truncate to 16 bits during record.

As a result, I dither to 16 bits in the DA7 and leave TDIF=16 in the DA38. Then the DA38 doesn't have to dither at all.

He dosn't have a DA-38.
The 2408 passes 24-bit on all digital I/O as does the DA7. Hope this helps.
