Subject: Upgrade software Model: WR-DA7

1. If the transmission stops during upgrading or before the upgrade process is completed due to a power failure or accidentally pulling out the cables etc., or if the program in the DA7 has been lost and fails to start up, you can still upgrade the DA7 in the following way…

1) Power on the DA7. (The DA7 displays only a blue screen.)
2) Operate the DA7 Upgrade Utility along "Quick Guide for only Upgrade".
3) You can see the bar graph transmitting in Step7 but the READ button and WRITE button on the Top Panel don't light or flash.

If the message "It can't be connected with DA7. Confirm the port setting." or "Communication error. Confirm a connection." is displayed, make sure the following…

Connections
* The correct type of cable is used.
* The DA7 and the computer are connected using the correct port.

(You may ignore the following if a power failure occurred while upgrading. Because you could not confirm the status from blue screen LCD.)

On the DA7
[TO PC] is selected for [PORT SELECT] in [MIDI > SETUP] window.
[38.4k] is selected for [BAUD RATE] in [MIDI > SETUP] window.
[TO PC] is selected for PORT of [Gen. Rx] and [Gen. Tx] in
[MIDI > SETUP] window.
* RECEIVE channel of the Upgrade Utility is the same as the
TRANSMIT channel of the DA7. (CH of [Gen.Tx] in [MIDI > SETUP]
Window)
* TRANSMIT channel of the Upgrade Utility is the same as the
RECEIVE channel of the DA7. (CH of [Gen. Rx] in [MIDI > SETUP]
Window)
* [Tx] and [Rx] are selected (inverse video) for [SYSTEM EX] in
[MIDI > SETUP] window.
[MIDI > BULK] window is displayed for BACKUP or RESTORE.
* [Rx] is ON in [MIDI > BULK] window for BACKUP or RESTORE.

Quick Guide for Upgrade only of DA7
Follow the instructions for Connections (as above-mentioned).
1. Open the DA7 Upgrade Utility software on your computer.
2. Push the [Upgrade] button in the [Menu] window. Select the files that will be used for upgrading. Open a folder and select the file for upgrading the DA7. (Ex. V102R02.mot.) Then push the [Open] button.
3. Next, the version of the current DA7 and the upgraded files are displayed.
Push the [OK] button.
4. Operate the DA7 following the instructions on the computer's display.
Power OFF the DA7.
Power ON the DA7 while simultaneously holding down the SELECT
and ON keys of MASTER LR Channel and #1 key on the numeric
Ten Key Pad.
A message confirming the start of the upgrade will be displayed.
Cursor to the [OK] button and press the ENTER key.
The READ LED in the Scene Memory section lights.
5. Click the [OK] on the computer's display. A message to confirm that erasing previous program in the DA7 appears.
6. Click the [OK] button to erase the existing program.
Tip: You should complete steps 5 and 6 within 30 seconds, or the DA7 will exit the upgrade mode and go back to normal operation.
To begin the upgrades processing again repeat Step 4.
7. While erasing, a bar graph appears on the computer's display and
the READ LED in the Scene Memory section begins to flash.
After erasure of the existing version is complete, writing of the
new version begins writing.
While writing, a bar graph appears and the WRITE LED flashes.
8. After writing the new version, the DA7 restarts and normal operation begins.
The [Menu] window appears again on the computer display.
(Upgrading takes about 18 minutes to transmit.)
