At my day gig we often work with fiber optics to link special slot machine configurations on the casino floor and this tech from IGT(the worlds largest slot machine manufacture) told me they are now shifting to a new fiberglass based fiber optic material that is SUPPOSED to give over 300 feet of transmission before buffering is neccessary. Sounds killer if true. Does any body know what the stuff is made of that we routinely use? I will be getting my hands on some of this supposedly new fiber and will make some test when time allows.
