Hey all, I am new to this group. I am looking at a DA7. I just want to use it to go into my Apollo 16. My goal is to just use the analog outs to make use of the pre amps, compression and eq to get that rich "Brown Sound" The board has no cards. Am I correct in just going from the inserts on the DA7 to my Apollo16 ins to achieve this. I do not need to control my Pro Tools just get the warm analog signal into pro tools. My intention is to use it for tracking. Is this the correct approach?

It's been a while but: You could use sends from channel inserts. Keep in mind, the sends/returns are not balanced. Bad news is, both EQ and compressors are DSP. A to D conversion happens after the channel inserts. So neither compression/EQ will be available using a direct send from an insert. To get there you'd need option cards.
