The other day I went to plug in my iLok key to discover to my horror that the plug part needed to be whiggled in order for it to engage and light up. I guess over the years as it's gotten bumped it's become loose. I'm sure others have had this happen. Now I have to go out, spend $40 on a new plastic iLok and transfer all my licenses from my old iLok to the new. Fortunately they have a utility on the iLok web site that should make this painless. But still, another reason to dislike the iLok system.

My other longstanding iLok gripe I have - I don't see why people should have to pay $25 each time they transfer a license to another person. If I own something, I should be able to give it to whoever I choose without paying anything.

To Pace iLok's credit, I'm not aware of any piracy these days that occurs with iLok which is what it was intended for. Then again, maybe it happens.

It's a pain.

Someone has cracked all of the Waves plugs on Mac Snow Leopard so it will be interesting to see what Waves does.

I don't use protools but Cubase has a similar "dongle". One of the last times I was doing some maintenance work on my computer I forgot to remove it from one of the rear USB ports... As I was flipping the computer case over to it's back (full tower) I heard a crrrrrunch... after almost having a stroke, I calmly bent the connector back to almost straight and plugged it back in with fingers crossed...Phwew...it still works. Yhea these things suck. Lesson take away - be careful out there!
