It's headphone time for me as all my sony md7506 sets are getting a bit long in the tooth.

Anybody have any current favorites for tracking?

I second the HD280's ... I use them all the time - they get loud and have great isolation. They are one of the flattest quality headsets out there

Changing the subject (because I'm happy enough with my standby K240Ms but don't find them especially exciting): is anyone else as giddy as I am about the Bose Quiet Comfort headphones?

My wife bought me a pair of Quiet Comfort 3s a couple of years ago, and they are fricking brilliant. Plane rides are a totally different experience now. If you just put them on without an audio source they knock the plane noise way, way down. The noise-cancelling circuitry really does work. Plus that annoying BING BING BING noise that precedes some stupid announcement no longer hurts your salivary glands (although that's because of the physical barrier, not the noise-cancelling circuitry).

And you can actually listen to music, or hear the audio on the movie. Just a great product.

I like my Beyer DT 770 a lot for comfort, isolation and accuracy, and the single ear DT 252 are nice for no bleed from the 2nd phone taken off the ear...

I love mine ... plus they make you look very cool too.

When nobody's looking, I'm happy with my K270.

I have 6 pair of the Sony mdr 7506s. Do the HD 280s sound as good as them? They look to be built pretty darn good and look a lot like them.

I have my trusty Sony md7506. For personal use I have a pair of the Bose like Nick's only without the electronic noise reduction and for my work laptop a pair of Klipsch S-1 earbuds which are great!

I'd like to try the new Shure headphones as they look inexpensive and perhaps great for tracking. Also some of those heavy isolation phones for drummers - though they look really uncomfortable for long sessions.

I would suggest taking a look at Dave Rat's blog .. He has been comparing almost every headset made in terms of flat response. A wealth of information there.

what about the Grado's?
seems like they'd be worth a listen.
