If it doesn't boot into Diagnostics, You're fairly done.
That is in ROM that should not be effected by a firmware load. Sounds more like the processor isn't happy.

Not sure if anyone asked, I wonder if you have one of the real old boards that had the hardware problem with a chip coming out of it's socket. Do a search here, it was a well documented problem, and the serial number range of the effected units are listed, so you can check against your serial number easily.

Here's the note from early 2004:

Check the serial number of your unit. If it starts with 983xxxx or lower, call one the following service centers:

Digitron Electronics
7801 E. Telegraph Rd.
Montebello, Ca. 90640
323-887-0777
(Attn. Simon)

M. Industrial AV
950 E. Orangethorpe - Unit H
Anaheim, CA 92801
714-992-0984
(Attn. Mir)

Service Hint Isseued : Novenber 1999

Subject : Impossible to operate
Applicable Model : WR-DA7
Applicable Model Service Numbers : 981XXXX, 982XXXX, 983XXX

Check the soldering condition or contacts between the IC socket and IC305 on the Main Board.

Phenomena:
1. Faders were fixed electrically and all function could not be operated.
2. Abnormal LED indication.
3. No LCD indication etc,.
Cause: Soldering crack occured by accident to IC305 on the Main Board.
Countermeasures: Remove the IC socket of IC305 carefully and solder the IC305 directly on the Main Board.
Note: IC305 and IC socket are not used in the serial numbers that are 984XXXX and higher. The function of IC305 is absorbed into IC300.

So the bad-solder problem shouldn't apply to your DA7. Back to the drawing board.
