First of all, try resetting it without the computer connected at all. Then you'll at least know if the problem is with the DA-7 or with the connection.

wow .. XP shit, stupid manuals, sound like you got problems.
how about trying to do a search and seeing how people handled it in the past so we don't have to repeat the same thing over and over.

There are well documented ways of getting past this. Or is the seach function just stupid shit to you too?

I'm still not convinced you're using the proper cable. But since I've only used Macs, I have no experience with using DB9 cables.

Dani, getting angry will not improve the operation of the DA7 or your computer.

This isn't like weight-lifting. You can't bear down and grunt and make it work.

It's gotta be the cable. As Rick said, it has to be a specialty serial cable that inverts the send and receive pins on one end.

People have used Apple Imagewriter data cables in the past, as they have the proper reversed wiring. If you try to use a standard DB9 serial cable instead of an Imagewriter cable, it won't work. You'll need to reverse the send/receive pins on one end.

An easy way to do this is to use a "null modem" adapter, available at any electronics supplier or Radio Shack. It is a small plug adapter that reverses the required pins and allows you to connect your DA7 to any Mac or PC's RS232 serial port.

Then I'll give you a hint. Go into diagnostics mode. There is also the option to reload the firmware from there.

Having the wrong cable was one of the biggest problems that faced people upgrading the DA7; you're not alone.

Though the ImageWriter printer is long obsolete, you might find an ImageWriter cable at Fry's Electronics. They seem to have everything.
