I recently listened to some old mixes I did around 1980 and was knocked out by how cool the vocal reverb was.

It was a MicMix Master Room spring reverb (XL 305 I think).
I'd forgotten how nice those sounded.

One studio I work at has one of those. It hasn't been hooked up in years.

I wonder what they'd want for it.....

I'll ask...they have both parts, and I think they have the cable. I want it though...... grin

What's it worth?

From the limited info I've found omline they seem to go for around $550+/- providing you can find one.
The xl305 seems to be regarded as one of the best models.

I found some convolution impulses here:

http://www.xs4all.nl/~fokkie/IR.htm#Masterroom

but I only have the waves convolution verb and it requires a proprietary impulse form. According to the site these are for altiverb.

I still have one of those Premier standalone units from probably the early 60s. Recapped and tested it in the late 90s.

Sits unused...time to sell it.

I prefere my outboard Lexicon pcm81 and 91 over the plugin verbs. Just a more natural feel.

I'm using a PCM 90, and an AMS rmx16 for the hardware verbs.
A Master Room would be a nice option to those.

For software verbs I'm liking the waves convolution verb using the Lexicon 480 impulses and the UAD plate 140 and UAD roland 201 space echo.

I got some nice results using Flex Reverb (from NI's Kore 2) today on some vocals. Really nice. I think I might use this more often.
