Are there any other Portlanders out there? I'd like to hook up and possibly put a study club together with other musicians and engineers in my area. The purpose would be to meet and help and teach/swap ideas with each other and collaborate on projects etc.
My setup is currently all hardware, with an MX 2424 digital HD, DA7 digital mixer, several racked Focusrite and JoeMeek compressors, TC Electronics effects processor and a TC Helicon Voice Prism Plus for vocals. All this gear resides in an Omnirax Synergy desk.
I have a control room, a live room and an isolation booth and run two 8 channel Mogami snakes (Neutrix combi connectors) from the live room to the control room and a Furhman head phone system.
I monitor the control room to Event 20/20 BAS speakers with the Event sub woofer for this system. I have the room pretty well adjusted for the monitors.
The live room doubles as a rehearsal space and so has a Mackie Tri amped PA with sub woofer. I use a set of Rolland Pro V-Drums as the primary trap set and a Bass Pod for tracking bass git. I play Guitar and drums and compose all the time. I have 3 decent mic's and need more. That is my weakest area with gear.
I am planning to add a digital patch bay and hook up 24 channels of lightpipe connectivity to my system and start taking the tracks from the MX recorder directly to a PC (Windows based) computer DAW (most likely Nuendo) for editing and mastering.
I am still learning the gear and paying my dues learning recording technique. I read this chat room religiously and am learning at a fairly accelerated rate now. Let me know if you're a Portlander or are somewhere else in the North West and would like to get together.
